End of Transfer 1!!!

I hope Sis Massengale doesn't mind I used her heading for my email too :)

Well no shock here but My trainer and I are STAYING in Kaibab Stake!! We not sure whats happening to our district though cause my DL is going home tomorrow for eternal P-Days... But his Comp is now going to the Valley up here in the other stake where sisters used to be.... And this area has NOT had Elders in a Looooong time (Ok about a year or so) because this place was hurt a while back so we are sooo shocked that elders are now in the area....

But will see how that goes, have no clue who my DL is going to be now or how the distract is going to be formed. The other sisters here in Kanab are still here as well so should be a fun transfer :)

Some new things I have noticed about this area.. EVERYONE Chops their own wood... Heard a few people talk of grape and pineapple juice to treat gout. EVERYONE Cans. EVERYONE makes home made Jam (Which is really starting to grow on me!! - Ok I love it!) Scones = Biscuts lol People don't "call" (like you would whistle at a dog) cats the same as I would back home... like they call a cat the same you would call a bird... strange lol. Everyone also Quilts... And yesterday we were called "Lady Elders" in Sacrament LOL

This was a GOOD week. We taught a man in our area who has a controversial column in the newspaper (when ever we tell people we are teaching him they are shocked) well, Sisters have been meeting him like once a transfer (once ever 6 weeks) for the past 6 months. And he is an Atheist and just has a lot of questions every time and we took our Ward Mission Leader with us and he would just answer his concerns from Tithhing to What a typical mormom week would look like with FHE and Mutual and things to Where the Book of mormon came from (historically) and just answering all his questions from a secular point of view and not teaching the DOCTRINE. And last time we didn't get to say anything in the lesson. So we decided to just be us this time. He has already read 1st and 2nd Nephi and is very curious about our religion. We had such a good lesson with him :D We taught DOCTRINE!! Though I don't know if he fully understands all the doctrine. We taught him how to pray and asked him to say the prayer, at first he did not want to pray but then we convinced him... so he starts... "Oh great wonderful beautiful universe, think you for the sparkling day" NOOOOOOOOOOO haha but it was funny :) But we are woking on him. Makes sense I guess if you don't believe in a God. Who else do you pray to. Oh did I mention he is a Family counselor??? But we set up a time to meet him at the Family history center THIS WEEK!!!! Excited about that.

Anyway this week has been jam packed, I got sick Tuesday night like just out of the blue and I'm still sniffling... But it's ok at least its over.

We will probably have a babptism soon!!! A Greek lady whose husband just recently joined has finally got revelation that she should become a mormon!!!! yay!!! I have not met with her, but she refused to see the missionaries for a while. But she is practically mormon...  :) So we should pick her up as an investigator this week!!! So excited to hear what she has to say :D

So We are also starting to work better with the Ward mission leaders, Stake co-ordination meeting has not been what it should (not that I know the difference) But we are hoping to change things up a bit and make it work :)

So I have been reading something called "The Fourth Missionary" by Elder Lawrence E. Corbridge  SOOOOO AMAZING!!! I would encourage ALL to read it!!! (If you find it please send me an electronic copy - I have one that has been photo copied 100 times so it can be tough to read) Even though it is focused mainly on missionary work I know that this can apply to us all.

He quotes C S Lewis:

"Give me all of you!!! I don't want so much of your time, so much of your talents and money, and so much of your work. I want YOU!!! ALL OF YOU!! I have not come to torment or frustrate the natural man or woman, but to KILL IT! No half measures will do. I don't want to only prune a branch here and a branch there; rather I want the whole tree out! Hand it over to me, the whole outfit, all of your desires, all of your wants and wishes and dreams. Turn them ALL over to me, give yourself to me and I will make of you a new self---in my image. Give me yourself and in exchange I will give you Myself. My

will, shall become your will. My heart, shall become your heart."

I hope we can all give our ALL to the Lord. I know we will become a better people and become more unified and as we develop these Chrsit like Atributes we will see ourselves change and as a result everything around us will change.

We live in changing times.

Love you all!! Keep the Pacakges and letter coming!!! I LOVE MAIL!! Some random pictures:

Fwd: WEEK 6!!!

Good Morning Friends and Family!!

Thank you all for your love support and Emails!!! AND of course for my BIG package :P Loved seeing and tasting Chocolate from home!!! HeHe and all those other things I needed :)

Went on a three-sim Exchange this week. Sorta glad she came to us and we stayed together because I STILL don't know the area as well as I should. And Don't remember people as well as I should. Goodness it is crazy!!! But we had a good experience! We saw an older couple taking groceries inside... And So we stopped to help them Well I don't know that we would have gotten into that house had we not helped them. Sister Davila was great though - we offered to help and he said no he can do it and she was like NO we ARE going to help you and started getting the bags out the car. Was great!! I still have a lot to learn with contacting people though. Anyway it was a great experience and I learned a lot from her example and Love for the work.

We then had Zone Conference on Wednesday - had to leave Kanab at 7 to get there by 9... Conference was 9 to 3, then went shopping because the sisters in "the Valley" have already got snow and they needed to gear up for it. So I don't think I explain this very well the first time. So in Kanab/down here there are 3 sets of sisters (cause there were some disobedient Elders in the past so the area probably won't have elders for a long time. So In the Kanab Stake there are 2 sets of sisters one in "the Valley" so covering Oderville and other areas in the mountians. Then there are 2 in Kanab itself covering 3 wards. Then there's US. In the Kaibab Stake covering 7 Wards: Kaibab (Moccasin, Cane Beds and Colorado City); Fredonia 1+2; Kanab1+2+6+7. When we have a normal week we go out to Cane Beds on Tuesdays and Fridays and stay with the Bishop there, he often has referals for us or just suggests Less actives that we should meet up with. We visit with some families in Colorado City. There ARE members there. a few that have come Out of the FLDS church. In fact this Friday we met with an AMAZING family who just 2 years ago got kicked out of the FLDS church and they were sooo lucky that there WHOLE family decided to follow the father (cause it was only him who got kicked out) But they are such a dedicated family. They are thinking of converting - I think it is going to take time but they like our church. I really hope I get to teach them!! So We also don't just go "tracting" in Co city we need to have the Ward mission leader (who lives in Co city) or the Bishop and his wife to come out with us. We are not allowed to take pictures of them else if they catch us doing it they will call the cops. We wave at them but they don't even smile. It is so sad to see what is happening in that community. When you get kicked out of the church you are not allowed to speak to those in the church. The one family we meet with, her mother refused to see them even on her death bed! It is so sad how much this separates families :(

Anyway so Zone Confrence was amazing. Learned so much and was great to see my friends again.
This is my Zone. St George East Zone. We got home soo late we had time to contact one family and that was it. But It was good we got to do some shopping :) Got a nice winter Coat. But it was all so rushed an hour really is NOT enough time. then we had to go to wall mart in hurricane and do our grocery shopping there...

Anyway. It is Week 6!!! Transfers next week. I should be staying here - so should sister Allen, but excited to see if they are going to split the area or not.

I spoke in sacrament yesterday... and I taught YW lol was a crazy day but good. had to make my 15min talk only 5min cause there was not enough time.

Quote for the day:

"One of the reasons we are here on Earth is to strengthen our faith, difficult dark days are a necessary part of life & give us opportunity to build our faith, learn to rely on a power far great we than our own." Elder Larry W. Gibbons

Phil 4:13 - " I can do All things through Christ which strengthens me."

Well time is up Hope you are all doing something this week to hasten the work :)

General Conference!!

Just a quick one.

I decided it was time to tackle personal emails and give a better response :) Well last week was great!! Finally think I am getting the hang of this.

We had ZTM last week ago which was a real boost for me! was great to just have everyone so positive and trying to work together to find ways to serve etc. It was still a hard as A LOT of our appointments cancelled!! It's hard to just be out trackting the whole time. But we will carry on and do that which is expected of us.

Hope everyone watched General Conference!! It was so Great!! I was able to receive answers to my questions for sure - Now it's time to APPLY!! I was soooo excited when Elder Soares and Elder Dube spoke. I loved listening to Elder Dube - just listening to a black accent was just GREAT!!! Haha - Yes I do Miss Africa!! For those of you who don't know Elder Dube is From Zimbabwe I was able to meet him at one of our institute temple nights - he had just been called into the 70. He is so great. I especially loved the missionary focus there was on Saturday! I hope you all took notes. The time is NOW for members and Missionaries to work together! Get to know the missionaries in your ward by NAME and offer to help teach and find people to teach. Also find out who their investigators are and offer to fellowship them - We cannot do it without YOUR help. Being an investigator is scary. Be there to help them lighten their load!

Invite Less actives to church - introduce them to the missionaries!!

I invite all to APPLY what they learned in Conference this week. Remember though Line upon line - precept upon precept.

Keep the Faith and Remember to Look UP!!! =D

I will send longer email next week. (I hope - might trek out to the Grand Canyon :D)

Send me letters!! Or send me your postal address - I love to write!! Check my Blog for Pictures (my sister is posting them up - www.sisterhollander.blogspot.com)
