Road to Huntington

For those who read Hunt-ing-ton You read wrong!!! lol It is Said "hunnington" Welcome to southern Utah.. (they have alot of silent T's)

Well as the name suggests I am getting transfered to Huntington which is a SMALL town apparently smaller than Kanab! It is near a place called Price (where sister Davis served)

My new companion is Sister Phagwah From a small country ontop of South America. She is really skinny! so maybe I will loose some weight cause my trainer says she does not eat much! It is going to be good! but I am sad cause George is getting baptized on Saturday :( Was crazy cause the date changed 3 times in one day but hey we are back on track he has quit drinking his decaf in the mornings and is ready for baptism :) I am at least glad that sister davis is still here though.

I love Cedar But it is time to be on my way, whether I like it or not. lol I can go willingly or unwillingly - I choose Willingly.

Here is George:

It has been a great transfer and I hope that the next will be even better! I cannot wait!

Good Luck everyone with all your own trails and struggles! I wish you the best of luck! Remember to try develop Christ Like Attributes - He wants us to become like him and he has made it all possible through the Atonement Please read this talk again I read it this morning and it is exactly what I needed today!

Oh and here is also a great video on the scriptures... its about 20min long though.

Happy Mothers Day!!!

So Not too much time cause I have been replying to some people from way back and my parents know all the new news since we did indeed skype yesterday :) And I went to the temple this morning so we now have more limited time :(

But here are the highlights:

2 New investigators
1. George - 93 year old whose wife just recently died and his children are all members. And is on date for baptism on the 31 may
2. Neal - been going to Church and reading from the Book of Mormon. Have a lesson with him tonight.

Miracle - I'm teaching an african american and he is planning on getting baptised in the begining of june we will work on a date this week :) He has almost quit - he is down to 2 cigarrtes a day from 10 a day.

And it snowed yesterday!
Enjoy the pics!

From Missionary to Professional Mover

As the title suggests we got to help a few people move this weekend!!! So I guess it was graduation for SUU here and so ALOT of people are moving away for the summer and others are leaving permanently. We were just knocking doors on friday when we got to move a young married couple out of their place cause they are moving up north. Then on saturday we arrived at one of our appointments with an investigator (family of at leat 14 people - Mom uncle aunt cousins brothers and sisters, one BIG family) and they tell us they have to be out of their house in 2 days!!! they are moving to Parowan (just a 30min drive) but now they don't tell us. Luckily we didn't have anything to do that evening so we went to dinner after sharing a short message then came back to help them out again. But because the family is so big no1 really knew where to start and was a bit of chaos. I don't know if we were able to help that much but we did something. I hope that heavenly father continues to work with them and that they can eventually make covenants with God. I know that is what we are hear to do as missionaries - help people make and keep covenants, whether they be baptismal or covenants in the temple.

Well other than that we still had a good week - could always be better but I think the work is progressing forward. we gota refferal yesterday for a 94 year old man I really want to teach him, and just goes to show that EVERYONE can repent and make covenants no matter how old you are.

So some events of last week that I omitted was I had lunch with a South African!! It was super! A lady from the Cape we had a great time just thinking about the differences, unfortunately she does not like the states at all and really wants to go home ASAP. But she quite likes it here in Utah because of the culture that is here with everything being so family orientated and THAT is one of the great things about this gospel!! We believe that we can be forever families! Though priesthood ordinances where we can make covenants or promises with God. I wish I had shared more with her and been more bold with her. I am however grateful that one of her work collegues is indeed sharing whathe knows to be true with her. she loves the salt lake temple and has really great questions! I love her. I hope to see her again. I am thinking of organizing a true SA braai with a south african family that I have heard so much about but I keep on forgetting to meeting them.

To introduce what happended this week here is a funny experience that has nothing to do with nothing but anyway, so we are teaching someone with a mental problem - we don't know what it is wheter it is scitzophenia or multiple personality disorder. But when sister Davis first met her she was NOT her normal self and we did not teach the lesson we had planned but rather read from the book of mormon cause we felt very uneasy in her home, but she would only read certain verses like 12 17 and 23, but half way through she says lets read out of the book of revelation... Ahhhhh scarry.... so we did. and didnt understand any of it... anyway.

So this week at Zone training we learned alot about the atonement and we started it defferently than normal, we started with reading from Revelations 5. (So Sister davis and I thought of the above experience Scarry I know) But it wasn't too bad we were able to think about the atonement a bit more. But here is my spiritual thought for you it is hymn 195 How great the wisdom and the Love:

  1. 1. How great the wisdom and the love
That filled the courts on high
And sent the Savior from above
    To suffer, bleed, and die!
  2. 2. His precious blood he freely spilt;
    His life he freely gave,
    A sinless sacrifice for guilt,
    A dying world to save.
  3. 3. By strict obedience Jesus won
    The prize with glory rife:
"Thy will, O God, not mine be done,"
    Adorned his mortal life.
  4. 4. He marked the path and led the way,
    And ev'ry point defines
To light and life and endless day
    Where God's full presence shines.
  5. 5. In mem'ry of the broken flesh
    We eat the broken bread
And witness with the cup, afresh,
Our faith in Christ, our Head.
  6. 6. How great, how glorious, how complete
    Redemption's grand design,
Where justice, love, and mercy meet
    In harmony divine!

I know just as Job knew that "My Redeemer liveth and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth. And though after my skin worms shall destroy this body, yet in my flesh I shall see God." (Job 19:25-26)
